  • #leadership I recently finished reading “OliversTwist” by Craig Oliver which tells about the many canoe trips he took with “PET” and friends..on one occasion a member was criticizing a member of the opposition…”PET” replied criticize the policies but not the individual…I believe this is something “Justin” should be doing. • #Leadership Just checked the site ”Three Hundred Eight” and noticed that the Liberals have slipped down by t0 34 % from 35% of the popular vote…could the comment on abortion by JT be the reason?

    • Likely, but our abortion policy, and the comments surrounding it, were the right thing to do and that will serve us well in the long run. Chasing polls is not leadership, after all.

  • #trdeau‘s comment that he likes some aspects of the chinese dictarship as well as Russia’s seem a little wierd when at the same time talks about strong leadership, grassroots involvement in decisions etc. etc about how wonderful democracy is then makes a studpid comment on dictoroship in china and russia…I wish he would think first and talk…[Read more]

    • Read what he said. Stop repeating conservative bs. JT was commenting, off the cuff (something our Prime Minister hasn’t done in 8 years) about how, because of their dictatorship (as opposed to ours under Harper) the Chinese are actually making progress on their economy and environment as opposed to our “free democratic” country that can’t. • #trdeau At least here we can get insight into a real person and are not just getting a canned response that hides what the person really thinks.
Wouldn’t it be great if Harper would get totally inebriated and have someone tape him to find out what he really thinks? IMV, the last honest thing he is reported to have said is, “When I am…[Read more]

    • Oddly enough, a few weeks ago I was talking at length to the same guy Trudeau was talking to that night (because he posted a picture of the two of them) although I don’t know whether it was before or after the comment. I’m also taking a fascinating online course out of Stanford University called Democratic development.

      • The trick is finding the balance between individual good and common good when the two meet. At the moment, individual good tops common good too often in some areas. `Right wing’ thinking tends to be on the side of individual good at the expense, too often, of the common, and the fact it has been a winner for those types of political parties is…[Read more]

    • Fred,

I also found this to be a rather foolish comment from one aspiring to be the future Prime Minister of Canada, and, like you I imagine, I managed to come to this conclusion without the help of Conservative propaganda. Politicians don’t have the luxury of just shooting from the hip and should be fully aware that the press, and ones…[Read more]

        • Patricia,

I don’t mind stirring things up and being a little controversial, but this was an absurd statement. Even if it affected a small targeted audience in a positive fashion, I’m pretty sure any gains were met with far larger losses among the sway voters of the center.

    • Yes, putting things in context is important. Your detractors are just wanting to misrepresent your points at every turn. Trudeau, as has been posted elsewhere, speaks candidly and openly. That as we see is a two sided coin. We have a choice between knowing his current reflections or the non-answers of the Conservatives because they do not want…[Read more]

      • This was an excellent jab at harper and his ”dictatorship” and I don’t know why Liberals don’t get it? The only mistake JT made was saying that the Yukon does not have a party system. So big deal….. and that is what the NDP is hammering him on but we all know – NDP – no damn principles….

    • Fred, Wayne Easter is not longer Trade critics. It is now Marc Garneau. I share your concern that the Liberal Party is not being vocal enough on the secrecy and implications of CETA, TPP and worst of all the Canada China FIPPA that Harper seems to have committed to without negotiation on one of his trips outside the country.
