With new tax credits for classroom supplies they pay for out-of-pocket, thanks to the new Teacher and Early Childhood Educator school supply tax benefit. The government is making important investments so that First Nations children can look forward to new and improved K-12 schools. Including $969.4 million (over five years) to repair existing and build new schools on reserves. And the government has committed to work with students, parents, educators and Indigenous groups to remove barriers that prevent Indigenous children from pursuing post-secondary education. Speaking of post-secondary education, Canadian Student Grants have been increased by 50%. Making post-secondary education more affordable for over 350,000 students across Canada – high five! via GIPHY That means up to $1,200 per year for full-time students from middle-income families, ($400 more than last year!) Up to $1,800 per year for part-time students from low-income families, ($600 more than last year!) And up to $3,000 per year for full-time students from low-income families! ($1,000 more than last year!) Plus, starting November 1, student debt will become more manageable. No student will have to repay their Canada Student Loan until they are making at least $25,000 per year. via GIPHY New investments for state-of-the-art spaces to help train the next generation of Canadian innovators and entrepreneurs. The government will invest up to $2 billion to improve facilities at Canadian universities, colleges, and polytechnics to serve as hubs of discovery and collaboration. And the government is making major new investments to help young Canadians get the experience and skills they need to find and maintain good jobs. This year the government is investing $278 million more in the youth employment strategy than last year. 77,000 students across the country are going back to school with new skills they learned during their Canada Summer Jobs placement. Which is more than double last year’s 34,000 students. Increasing investments in the Canada Summer Jobs Program means more #youth have the training and skill development they need to achieve their goals.
