Ahhh, Prince Edward Island!
As exhausted as we were rolling over the Confederation Bridge after 11 p.m. last night, the announcement that we had landed on The Island brought about a resounding cheer. Who doesn’t love PEI?? (I just know that everyone is looking forward to possibly/probably/very likely embarrassing photos with those Anne of Green Gables hats – the ones with the red braids!).
We arrived here following two action-packed days cruising the highways of New Brunswick. Yesterday, after celebrating New Brunswick Day in Richibucto, we toured a wharf where most of the fishermen were Micmac.
From there, we attended a BBQ hosted by the local candidate, Keith Vickers, along the banks of the Miramichi River. It was gorgeous! Mr. Ignatieff was so drawn to it he actually pulled on a life jacket and went for an impromptu paddle in this huge 10-man canoe. He was in his element – we had to practically drag him away!
And now here we are, starting another sun-filled day on the Liberal Express. Goodbye New Brunswick – how we have loved your rolling hills, stellar coastlines and world-famous hospitality. Hello PEI – boat tours, Cows Ice Cream, oysters (mmm, oysters…) and the fantastic island scenery, of course.
Life is good!
