Help shape Liberal policy

For three days in late March, Liberals hosted a policy conference that changed the way politics is done in this country.

Canada at 150: Rising to the Challenge brought together some of Canada’s leading thinkers and doers with more than 30,000 online participants and over 70 satellite events across the country. It truly set the gold standard for public engagement in the political process.

Now it’s time to take that work to the next stage. If you are a Liberal Party member, this is your opportunity to help shape the Liberal policies that will help us win back government. If you aren’t yet a member, we hope you’ll join us and share your insights and ideas.

Liberal members have a key role to play in shaping our party’s policies. Between the point where the broad ideas and priorities are identified, and where our policy platform is presented to Canadians, members must weigh in with their views, to ensure those policies reflect the values and vision of grassroots Liberals in all corners of Canada.

That work begins by refining the five themes we discussed in Montreal and shaping them into a cohesive set of policies that we can present to Canadians – the framework for how a Liberal government will lead Canada toward our 150th birthday.

So we invite you to get involved. Through the month of June, Policy Matters, a series of national policy discussions will take place in five regional centres across Canada: Dartmouth, Quebec City, Toronto, Edmonton and Vancouver. These events will take the themes from Canada at 150 – as well as unique regional themes – and drill deeper into the wealth of ideas that emerged at the conference.

But like Canada at 150, participation is not limited to those five cities. If you’re not able to make it to one of these regional Policy Matters meetings, don’t worry. We’ll be holding a special online session where you’ll be able to speak directly with Liberal Leader Michael Ignatieff and Liberal critics to share your input into the policies we’re building.

So please visit the Policy Matters website and get involved in building the Canada of tomorrow by helping shape strong and effective Liberal policy today.
