Today’s itinerary got off to an early, 7:30am start with a Saint John Riding Association breakfast at the Lily Lake Pavilion, overlooking beautiful Lily Lake (pictured below).  The 200-person, all-ages crowd was energized and eager to mix and mingle and with Liberal Leader Michael Ignatieff and his wife Zsuzsanna Zsohar.  Former Saint John MP Paul Zed introduced Michael, who in turn could not resist ribbing his old friend a few times, much to the amusement of everyone in attendance. Here are a few photos from the event, including a couple courtesy of Chris London, a local Liberal.

The major event of the day was a lunch-time speech to an engaged gathering of business and community leaders at the Saint John Board of Trade. As Michael tweeted earlier today, he spoke about Canada’s historic passion to succeed, and how we can harness our talents as Canadians to become global leaders. After the speech, Michael scrummed with media. Later that afternoon, before departing for PEI, he stopped by a public market to meet and greet with the people of Saint John. Here are some photos taken by Saint John photographer Rod Stears.
