Excellent! This is the kind a clear fact based message that we need to get out there in front of all Canadians. Easy to understand. Easy to remember.
But…Please…can we get the companion graph? The annual deficit/surplus graph with governing PM and party below from http://lkm.liberal.ca/issues/be-informed-national-debt/
The two work so beautifully together and drive the message home.
Argue with that Mr. Flaherty and Mr. Harper!
Thanks for the plug Martin!
Excellent! We know the next argument will be that their “Economic Action Plan” stimulus money that saved our economy accounts for that deficit.
To be one step ahead lets prepare something that gives quotes from world economic leaders saying how our banking regulations saved our financial system from taking the risks that brought down many banks. From there, it will be easy to find footage of Opposition Steve opposing these same regulations.
I hope the preparation of this graph was less than $225,000 :-)
I agree with Martin, we need to show both. But also – PLEASE – include the Mulroney spending on the graphic. Otherwise people will look at the high bars at the start and say “Well the Liberals were spending just as much!!” – you have to show that we brought it gradually down from Conservative squandering.
Agreed Mulrooney should be a part of this graph. Also an idea is to point out key politics decisions in these times that correspond with the problem. Wow, with the crime bill can you imagine what the spike in 2013 will be?
