Last night, Michael Ignatieff took your questions at Beth Emeth Synagogue in Toronto, during the latest Open mike town hall. He was joined onstage by Liberal MPs Ken Dryden and Joe Volpe, and by future Liberal MP Karen Mock, our candidate in Thornhill.
There was no 7-second delay. There were no scripted questions.
Actually, that isn’t quite true; there were several Conservative Party operatives in attendance, distributing—you guessed it—scripted questions. Two of them actually came up to me before the event and asked where they should sit in order to be first at the ”Open mikes” when the town hall began.
Now, I’ve been to a lot of town halls with Michael Ignatieff, and people are always very keen to ask him their questions, but these two were unnaturally so. I suppose that, after spending time in Stephen Harper’s Conservative Party, they were just desperate to find a political leader who was ready to listen to their questions. Scripted questions or no, they were welcome in the Big Red Tent.
For those of you who couldn’t be there in person, we were streaming the audio live here on www.liberal.ca. We had an online conversation going the whole time, and I dutifully asked Michael Ignatieff, Ken Dryden, Joe Volpe, and Karen Mock your questions, submitted through the liveblog, and by email, Facebook, and Twitter.
And now, without further ado, here’s your not-so-instant replay. If you’ve got a question for Michael Ignatieff that wasn’t asked last night, send it in—the next Open mike town hall will be at Redeemer University College in Ancaster tomorrow morning.
