Michael Ignatieff visits Fisher House in Kings Landing Historical Settlement in Prince William, New Brunswick
Today’s second stop was interesting. Kings Landing Historical Settlement in Prince William is a fascinating look at New Brunswick’s past – a rather apt tour stop on the eve of New Brunswick Day.
This is the spot where tens of thousands of loyalists set up homes after the end of the American Revolution. But this stop had special significance to Michael Ignatieff.
Turns out, he is related to the province’s first historian, Peter Fisher (through his mother, Jessie Grant). Try to stay with me here – Mr. Ignatieff’s mother’s maternal grandmother, Ann Connell Fisher, was the granddaughter of Peter Fisher and niece of the Father of Confederation, Charles Fisher. (Got that??)
Both Peter and Charles Fisher owned the Fisher House (aptly named, I would say) now located at King’s Landing. As Mr. Ignatieff toured the small wooden home, he said it was an “emotional moment.”
Cool, huh?
