The Liberal Platform’s plan to build a strong Canadian economy by helping individuals reach their full potential, ease the pressure on families and foster innovation will help create a strong economy and new employment opportunities, Liberals affirmed today in a teleconference call with multicultural media.
“Over the past two years, Liberals have been working with Canadians to develop our platform with the goal of creating a plan that would give every Canadian a good start in life so they have the opportunity to live up to their full potential in order to achieve their goals and prosper,” said Navdeep Bains, the Liberals’ Chair of Platform Development.
“We’re bringing a new level of economic stability to Canadian families by helping them with the cost of post-secondary education, child care, family care and saving for retirement,” said Mr. Bains. “The new Liberal Platform belongs to everyone – because it’s about your family, your future, and your Canada.”
The Liberal Platform, “Your Family, Your Future, Your Canada” was launched last Sunday during an online town hall with Liberal Leader Michael Ignatieff, featuring the Liberal Party’s five-point plan to strengthen families, the “Liberal Family Pack.”
“While the Harper Conservatives’ economic priorities are giving $6 billion to profitable corporations and wasting $13 billion of taxpayer money to build U.S.-style mega-prisons, Liberals believe that if families are strong our economy will prosper,” said Mr. Bains.
“The Liberal Platform is about making opportunity a reality for all Canadians, including our newcomers,” said Rob Oliphant, Chair of Multicultural Outreach for the Liberal Party of Canada.
“By putting the resources and funding back into family reunification, investing in settlement services, language training and foreign credentials recognition, Liberal are affirming that all Canadians can share in the long-term vision for this country’s prosperity.
“It’s time to bring hope and opportunity back to new Canadians and their families. That’s why a Liberal government will focus on what really matters: giving every Canadian the tools to succeed in the years ahead,” concluded Mr. Oliphant. “And as Michael Ignatieff has said, ‘a Canadian is a Canadian is a Canadian.’”
