Liberal Statement on Canadian Police and Peace Officers Memorial Day

Posted on September 30, 2012

MONTRÉAL— Liberal Public Safety critic Francis Scarpaleggia made the following statement today on Canadian Police and Peace Officers Memorial Day:

“Today we pay tribute to our police and peace officers who have fallen fulfilling their duties. It is an opportunity to extend our appreciation to all those who have put themselves in harm’s way for the sake of their communities and our safety.

On the 35th anniversary of this memorial service, we remember the 810 members on the Honour Roll displayed on Parliament Hill, and their families who have been touched so deeply by tragedy. We strive to honour the loss they carry with them with the collective respect we exhibit every single day for those in uniform.

On behalf of the Liberal Party of Canada and our Parliamentary Caucus I extend my deepest condolences to the families of our fallen police and peace officers, and encourage all Canadians to think of those who keep us safe.”
