DRUMMONDVILLE – During the next few months, Quebec’s federal Liberal MPs will be canvassing the province to expose the Conservative government’s disastrous performance, and convince the people of Quebec that voting for the Bloc means voting against change and can only result in the Conservatives being returned to power in the next election. As part of the tour, Liberal MPs will also establish concrete development initiatives in collaboration with the leaders of the different regions.
“Only Michael Ignatieff’s Liberals are capable of overcoming Stephen Harper’s ‘reformists,’ ” declared Marc Garneau, MP for the riding of Westmount–Ville-Marie and the Liberal Leader’s representative in Quebec. “Today, voting for the Bloc means voting to re-elect a Conservative government that no one wants. The Conservatives dismiss anyone who doesn’t toe the party line, denies women the right to choose, doesn’t respect the Supreme Court’s decisions, uses taxpayers’ money to build prisons and buy untendered stealth fighters. Liberals are focused on the real needs of our young families who need more daycare spaces, our sick loved ones who want better healthcare, and our senior citizens who fear for their financial security.”
“The next election will afford the people of Quebec the chance to vote for a party that represents their values and priorities,” added Pablo Rodriguez, MP for Honoré-Mercier. “Legitimate as they may be, Bloc MPs cannot – and will never be able to – decide anything in Ottawa. Voting for the Bloc is a ‘vote against everything,’ and it’s time for the people of Quebec to vote for something. Voting for the party that embodies Quebec’s values and priorities is the only way to be rid of the backward policies of Stephen Harper’s ‘reformists.’ ”
The tour of Liberal MPs and candidates in Quebec is part of the follow-up to the Liberal Express tour that visited the province during the summer. It will allow the party’s representatives to meet with citizens and social, economic, and community stakeholders in various regions to ensure that the Liberal Party of Canada’s priorities and values are aligned with theirs.
