It is with great pride I congratulate David Suzuki on winning the prestigious the Right Livelihood Award, an international award known as the “alternative Nobel prize” offered by the Swedish Parliament, for his lifelong contribution to raising awareness about the perils of climate change and building public policies to address it.
David Suzuki is Canada’s best known environmental activist and advocate for fighting climate change through small changes to daily habits. A trained biologist and geneticist, he has worked tirelessly through his lectures, books, radio programs and television program, ‘The Nature of Things’, to promote a better understanding of human impact on the environment.
An outspoken proponent for protecting the environment, he has long led the charge to push for strong public policies to ensure the future health of Canada’s environment. His voice is one of weight and merit within Canada and around the world.
On behalf of the Liberal Party and Parliamentary caucus, I offer my sincere congratulations to David Suzuki on his significant achievement.
