On behalf of the Liberal Party of Canada and our parliamentary caucus, I offer my sincere condolences to the families, friends and colleagues of the seventeen brave Canadians who lost their lives in the helicopter crash off the coast of Newfoundland and Labrador.
As we mourn the loss of these dedicated workers who perished on the job in this horrific accident, we know the close-knit communities of Newfoundland and Labrador grieve for those they have lost. All Canadians join with them from coast to coast to coast in wishing them strength during this period of mourning and grief.
As the final victims have been recovered, we pause together to remember these remarkable Canadians and we send our thoughts and prayers to their loved ones as they cope with this tragic loss. We wish the sole survivor of the crash a full recovery.
NOTE: The Liberal Party of Canada will be represented at the memorial service today by several Newfoundland and Labrador Members of Parliament and the Senate, as well as MPs Marc Garneau and Justin Trudeau.
