Statement from Liberal Leader Michael Ignatieff on the passing of Claude Béchard

Posted on September 7, 2010

Liberal Leader Michael Ignatieff made the following statement today, following the passing of Claude Béchard:

“On behalf of the members of the Liberal caucus, and all members of the Liberal Party of Canada, I want to offer my condolences to the family of Claude Béchard, to his colleagues in the National Assembly, to the people of his constituency, and also to Premier Jean Charest.

“Mr. Béchard served his fellow citizens with honour and devotion, and the determination with which he fought cancer is a testament to his courage and his fighting spirit. Quebec, and all of Canada, has lost a remarkable man.”
