TORONTO – Liberal Leader Bob Rae made the following statement today on Pakistan’s Independence Day:
“For many years now, Pakistani-Canadians have played a significant role in the development of a modern Canada, thanks to their many contributions to the cultural and economic vitality of our country.
As Canadians, this day is a wonderful occasion to celebrate the accomplishments of the Pakistani-Canadian community. It is also an opportunity to reflect on the diversity that is foundational to our country, the strength of our ethno-cultural communities and the desire to build a better Canada.
On behalf of the Liberal Party of Canada and our Parliamentary caucus, I offer my best wishes to all those celebrating 65 years of Pakistan’s independence.”
