Statement by Liberal Leader Bob Rae on Seollal, the Korean New Year

Posted on January 23, 2012

EDMUNSTON, NB— Liberal Leader Bob Rae made the following statement on Seollal, the Korean New Year:

“Today friends and family in our Korean communities across the country mark Seollal, the beginning of a new year, and around the world people of Korean heritage are taking this opportunity to gather and celebrate.

As we gather with family for feasting, exchanging gifts and honouring our ancestry, we celebrate the contributions that the Korean community brings to Canada’s rich cultural diversity. The commitment to celebrating elders and community are values we all share as Canadians.

On behalf of the Liberal Party of Canada and our Parliamentary Caucus, I wish you all happiness and prosperity in the New Year.”
