Two more Conservative MPs have been found openly brandishing Conservative party logos at Government of Canada announcements in a clear abuse of government rules.
Natural Resources Minister Lisa Raitt is seen pictured below wearing a hockey jersey emblazoned with a Conservative party logo and “Harper” splashed across the back at an event with Milton Mayor Gord Krantz to announce the government’s $500 million RinC program. The blatantly partisan photographs were found on a Government of Canada funded website (http://www.lisaraittmp.com/EN/8086/87992).

In addition, Peterborough MP Dean Del Mastro is pictured below standing in front of a banner with a Conservative party logo while announcing $20 million in government funding for the Eastern Ontario Development Program in May 2009 (http://www.cdc.on.ca/news.php). Mr. Del Mastro is joined by Doug Armstrong, the Vice Chair of Peterborough Community Futures Development Corporation.

“To Harper, it’s your money for his party,” said Liberal MP Wayne Easter. “The line between party and government is blurred in everything the Harper Conservatives do.”
“From these cheques, to pork barrelling, to patronage, to partisan advertising, to excessive secrecy – Harper government MPs are systematically abusing their power to cravenly further their own self-interest.”
To date, Liberals have named 50 Conservative MPs who, in over 200 instances, have presented personalized cheques or used the Conservative logo at government announcements. http://www.liberal.ca/en/newsroom/partisan-cheques and http://www.flickr.com/photos/conservativecheques
