This summer, even more rural Nova Scotians will have to adjust to a new reality of traveling to pick up their mail. While it may seem like a minor inconvenience for some, for people living in rural communities, and especially for seniors in those communities, the change from home delivery to centralized group mailboxes could have a real impact on their personal safety and quality of life.

Stick to the Facts, Minister Aglukkaq

In her speech at the Canadian Medical Association’s (CMA) 145th Annual General Meeting, Federal Health Minister Leona Aglukkaq lauded the federal government’s “accomplishments” in health care. She also accused those critical of her government’s record of engaging in “over-the-top rhetoric” and advised that “we should stick to the facts” when debating health care. Yet her own address, laced with rhetoric and platitudes, was far from factual. The Minister should heed her own advice. Here are six examples of where she failed to do so:
