Director, Fundraising Operations

The Liberal Party of Canada seeks to hire a Director, Fundraising Operations to provide leadership and expertise that strengthens and supports our fundraising programs and enables further growth in grassroots fundraising.

This new position is responsible for leading the team of front-line agents who engage directly with our supporters and the public, coordinating and optimizing our team of in-house volunteers, ensuring we comply with all rules and requirements, and devising processes that help the whole system run efficiently.

With leadership and new expertise on this team we aim to improve our donor and supporter experience, represent our party proudly and effectively, and support all efforts to continue being the most open and inclusive political party in Canada.

The Director, Fundraising Operations will work closely with other departments on compliance, messaging and managing various issues and questions as they arise. This role and this team play a critical role in representing the organization and providing a positive experience for those engaging with LPC.

Senior Director, Fundraising

Job Duties:

  • Lead a dynamic cross functional team of staff and volunteers to triage, re-direct and ultimately meet the needs of a wide range of partners’ needs ranging from the public to supporters and donors to local EDAs
  • Identify and effectively manage service and communications issues as they arise, working collaboratively with the communications team as required.
  • Develop, implement and improve donor and supporter stewardship initiatives and processes.
  • Identify and implement systems and operational improvements to improve the capacity of the team to better meet expanding needs of the organization including up to and into the writ period.
  • Ensure the Liberal Solutions team has the communications support needed to effectively fulfill its duties.
  • Ensure that the Party continues to meet all fundraising compliance requirements.
  • Identify opportunities and provide support to further field and organization-wide priorities, including Days of Action, campaigns, and EDA fundraising support.
  • Maintain excellent working relationships with internal and external partners and vendors.
  • Provide strong leadership to a team of part-time and full-time agents.
  • Identify and develop opportunities to improve both the use of and experience of volunteers at LPC offices.
  • Negotiate with external stakeholders or vendors as required to meet organization and budget requirements.
  • Other duties as required


  • A minimum of five years experience leading teams, preferably in a customer service environment.
  • Demonstrated success in implementing systems and process improvements including but not limited to donor or customer retention and stewardship.
  • Demonstrated ability to achieve results in stewardship and fundraising initiatives, ideally in a multi-stakeholder/ not-for-profit environment
  • Project management, process improvement, and communications experience all beneficial
  • Above average skills in technology, innovation and problem-solving, particularly with customer relationship management and stakeholder management software (expert knowledge of Salesforce, Liberalist, and WordPress programs and software is a particular asset)
  • Experience with issues management is desirable
  • Experience in campaigning with the Liberal Party of Canada is a strong asset
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English are required and an ability to communicate in French is an asset (Bilingualism strongly preferred)
  • Requires completion of a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent certification in a related field such as; Political Science, Communications, Computer Science, Marketing or Business

Working Conditions:

  • Must be comfortable working in a fast paced, dynamic environment with shifting priorities and operational objectives
  • Must excel in mentoring, building capacity and building consensus in a multi-stakeholder team environment
  • May be required to work unusual hours and periods at an accelerated pace over which you have no control
  • Limited travel may be required
