Summary

The Liberal Party of Canada is seeking a Senior Director of Fundraising for an opportunity to join a dedicated team of staff to support Justin Trudeau and the Liberal team.

Reporting to the National Director, the Senior Director, Fundraising is responsible for developing and executing the integration of all revenue channels into a cohesive and seamless donor development framework that provides long-term sustainable fundraising support to the Liberal Party of Canada. This role requires substantive knowledge of modern and progressive fundraising techniques, a thorough understanding of federal laws governing political donations, as well as a sound grasp of the working structure of the Party and its Constitution.

Job Duties

  • Develop and execute a strategic annual fundraising plan that meets the ongoing financial needs of the Liberal Party of Canada.
  • Support and further the strategic direction of the Party as a member of the senior management team.
  • Support the vision and activities of the Chief Revenue Officer.
  • Report in a timely, accurate and effective manner on fundraising performance to the broader organization as directed by the National Director. Develop and maintain a data-driven approach that supports organizational and operational decision-making.
  • Provide effective leadership and mentoring to support and enable a highly-effective fundraising team.
  • Identify and develop new and improved fundraising opportunities that support both national and local fundraising results.
  • Ensure that all fundraising activities of the national party meet compliance and regulatory requirements.
  • Develop and support an effective team-approach and volunteer network that supports national fundraising efforts.
  • Identify system and process improvements that continue to improve the fundraising support achieved by the Liberal Party of Canada.
  • Effectively manage the expenses of the fundraising department and fundraising activities.
  • Other duties as required.

Requirements

  • Recognized post-secondary degree with a minimum of 7 years’ proven, and progressively senior, fundraising experience. At least 4 years’ management experience.
  • Up-to-date knowledge of and experience with digital marketing and fundraising practices across charitable and political sectors.
  • Experience with mid-level giving systems and best practices.
  • Demonstrated success managing and mentoring effective teams.
  • Experience working with a complex, national, multi–level volunteer-driven organization. Experience reporting into a Board of Directors is an asset.
  • A commitment to compliance. Experience working in highly regulated industries is an asset.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in both of Canada’s official languages.
  • Preferred experience working with political organizations (experience with LPC an asset).
  • Must be a team player and able to work under minimal supervision.
  • Commitment to Liberal values.

Working Conditions

  • Evening and weekend work required as part of being a volunteer driven organization i.e. for board and committee meetings.
  • Extended hours during peak times including end of year and at the end of quarter.
  • Periodic travel required within Canada.
