Our IT Systems Specialist provides the skills and leadership necessary for the efficient and effective operations of technology solutions in support of the Liberal Party of Canada’s objectives. Responsibilities include maintaining IT infrastructure and supporting LPC staff with a wide variety of IT issues. The Specialist, IT Systems will ensure that IT services, applications and infrastructure are operated in line with organizational requirements and defined service levels, and fulfilled in a manner that supports LPC’s engagement with Canadians.

Job Duties:

  • Research and solve IT issues for employees located across the country
  • Maintain an accurate inventory of LPC’s IT assets
  • Facilitate the onboarding and off boarding of employees
  • Install, configure, monitor, maintain and patch Windows servers
  • Install, configure, maintain and patch Windows 10 desktops
  • Troubleshoot issues with mobile phones
  • Configure, monitor, and test server backups
  • Create and maintain documentation about processes and systems
  • Ensure IT disaster recovery plans are maintained and achievable
  • Monitor industry directions and best practices, process innovations, emerging technologies, etc.
  • Identifies opportunities, and develops/presents business cases to introduce new technology initiatives
  • Other duties as required


  • Sustained experience and track record of success troubleshooting in the technology sector and working in a fast-paced, competitive, service delivery business (minimum 2 years)
  • Bilingual (French/English)
  • Skilled at identifying technology issues, creatively solving these problems, and effectively communicating the process and solutions
  • Ability to work independently and set task priorities
  • Broad understanding of IT and AV systems
  • Ability to communicate complex IT ideas with people not as well-versed with technology
  • Technical requirements include but are not limited to: familiarity with network attached storage; scripting knowledge; Remote Access Services; thorough understanding of networking concepts; data back-up and recovery
  • Experience managing a Microsoft server environment; Windows Server 2008/2012/2016
  • Experience configuring and troubleshooting IPsec VPN tunnels, Access Control Lists, and Site to site VPNs


  • Experience maintaining Linux servers
  • Bachelor’s degree or a diploma in a technology field
  • Technology certifications such as CompTIA A+, CompTIA Network+, Cisco CCNA, ITIL, or Microsoft MCP

    • Preference will be given to candidates who already possess Microsoft’s MCSA: Windows Server 2016 certification
  • Valid driver’s license

Working Conditions:

  • Must be comfortable working in a fast paced, dynamic environment with shifting priorities and operational objectives
  • Must excel in mentoring, building capacity and building consensus in a multi-stakeholder team environment
  • May be required to work unusual hours and periods at an accelerated pace over which you have no control
  • Occasional travel
