Brockville, ON – On Thursday, local Liberals in Leeds–Grenville–Thousand Islands and Rideau Lakes were joined by the Hon. Lawrence MacAulay and Mark Gerretsen to nominate Mary Jean McFall, a devoted community advocate, lawyer, and former City Councilor, as the Team Trudeau candidate in the upcoming federal by-election.
“We are thrilled to have Mary Jean McFall as the Team Trudeau candidate for Leeds–Grenville–Thousand Islands and Rideau Lakes,” said Suzanne Cowan, President of the Liberal Party of Canada. “She understands what it takes to create good new jobs for families in these communities, and has firsthand experience with the challenges that face small business owners, farmers, and middle class families every day.”
Mary Jean has deep roots in the region’s agriculture sector, serving as a Director of Egg Farmers of Ontario and working as General Counsel to Burnbrae Farms. Most recently, she served as the Chief of Staff to Canada’s Minister of Agriculture and Agri-Food. She has a unique understanding of the evolving local economy, and a deep commitment to building a better future for families throughout the region.
“Leeds–Grenville–Thousand Islands and Rideau Lakes needs a strong voice in Ottawa who will stand-up for our priorities,”said Mary Jean McFall. “As our next Member of Parliament, I will work closely with Justin Trudeau to strengthen our middle class, and create good new jobs for families in our region.”
