Scarborough, ON – Scarborough—Agincourt Liberals have nominated Jean Yip, a devoted community leader and experienced insurance professional, as the official Team Trudeau candidate in the upcoming federal by-election.
“We are very proud to welcome Jean Yip as our newest Team Trudeau candidate for this important by-election,” said Anna Gainey, President of the Liberal Party of Canada. “Jean has demonstrated an incredible passion for making a difference in the lives of families in her community, and she will be a strong advocate for Scarborough—Agincourt in Ottawa.”
Jean grew up in Scarborough—Agincourt and has deep roots in the community. After completing her degree at the University of Toronto, Jean pursued a career in insurance and underwriting, and became a team leader in her field.
In recent years, she has focused on her community and her family, stepping up as a partner with her late husband, Arnold Chan, in serving Scarborough—Agincourt and raising their three sons. She also teaches Sunday school and has been involved with a number of organizations, including the STEM Fellowship Board of Directors and the Parliamentary Spouse Association.
“I am honoured to have earned the trust of Liberals to represent this dynamic and diverse community in Parliament, and work with Justin Trudeau to grow and strengthen our middle class,” said Yip. “One conversation at a time, I look forward to spending the next several weeks of this by-election working hard to earn the support of families throughout our community.”
