LORETTE, MB– More than 400 Liberals met on Wednesday in Provencher to nominate Terry Hayward as the Liberal Party of Canada’s candidate in the riding’s upcoming by-election.
A public servant with the Government of Canada for more than three decades, Mr. Hayward worked for Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada, as well as serving as a member of our Foreign Service in Washington, DC, and Wellington, New Zealand, promoting Canada’s interests internationally. He completed his career with the federal government in 2006, following six years of service as the Executive Director of the Farm Products Council of Canada. Post-retirement, Mr. Hayward spent 18 months as the Executive Director of the Manitoba Rural Adaptation Council Inc., a major nonprofit organization that funds innovative agriculture projects, before establishing his own advisory services business.
Mr. Hayward and his family have been residents of Provencher for over 20 years. Always active in his community, Mr. Hayward served for several years as the President of the Beauséjour chapter of Canadian Parents for French, and is currently the President of the Eastern Manitoba Concert Association.
Welcoming his nomination, Mr. Hayward said, “I am pleased and honoured to represent the Liberal Party of Canada in Provencher. I look forward to joining Justin Trudeau and the Liberal team, and working hard for the people of my riding.”
